5.0 LOADOUT AREA ALLUVIAL GROUNDWATER
March 2006
Two alluvial wells (AP-1 and AP-2) were monitored for field measurements in October 2005 and
then on a monthly basis from March through September 2006 in accordance with the permit.
Field data collected are presented in Appendix A, 2006 Field Data. Figure 3, Alluvial Water
Levels, presents groundwater levels measured since July 1996. Water levels have returned to
historic levels in both wells following a low water (drought) year in 2002.

Water quality samples were collected and analyzed on a "quarterly" basis in October 2005 and in
April and July, 2006. As of January 1999, the parameter list for alluvial well sample analysis was
reduced to include only major elements and no Vace metals. This data has been summarized
and is presented in Table 1, 2006 Groundwater Quality Statistics. The individual laboratory
analyses are presented in Appendix C.
The mean field and laboratory measurements for each of the last 9 years are presented in Tables
S and 9 AP-1 and AP-2 Historic Loadout Area Alluvial Water Quality Data. Figure 4, EC vs. TDS-
Well AP-1, and Figure 5, EC vs. TDS-Well AP-2, show comparisons of EC to TDS concentrations
over the last 9 years. These general water quality indicators remained consistent (with historic
values) during this monitoring period for both wells. The concentrations of several analytes
increased slightly in 2003 and 2004 but these have returned to typical historic values. The EC
inaccurate values due to field equipment malfunction are not inGuded in the figures.
