Tipple No. 2 Loadout Tunnel - The Tipple Loadout Tunnel SAE consists of small disturbed area surrounding the <br />tunnel on the east side as identified on Permit Renewal Map 5 (Roads, Powerlines and Facilities). The surrounding area <br />is well-vegetated and rock/gravel filter dams have been installed in the ditches along the railroad track. This SAE was <br />approved by the CMLRD on June 23, 1988 with MR 88-27. Runoff from from a 10-year, 24-hour event for this 0.10 <br />acre exemption area would be negligible. <br />Pond B Access Pad - This SAE covers about 0.3 acres adjacent to Pond B. The area is gently sloping, with heavy <br />vegetative cover on adjacent areas bordering Foidel Creek, acting as a filter to prevent sediment contributions to the <br />stream. CYCC constructed a berm and rock filter to further control and treat the anticipated 0.01 acre-feet of runoff, <br />generated by the 10-year, 24-hour event. In 2009, TCC installed an 18" culvert under the Pond B light-use road, <br />extending from a new drainage sump in the road ditch to the existing drainage collection basin on the south side of the <br />road, which drains to Pond B. TCC also modified the road berm on the north side of the road to prevent road drainage <br />from discharging to Foidel Creek. <br />Pond D East Area - The Pond D East Area SAE covers 0.7 acres adjacent to the emergency spillway, overland <br />conveyor, and haulroad. Runoff from this area flows along the haulroad and collects between the haulroad and the <br />Pond D embankment, immediately to the east of the culvert, which conveys Pond D discharge to Foidel Creek. The <br />area is vegetated, and a sump and rock filter treat the anticipated 0.04 acre -feet of runoff from the 10-year, 24-hour <br />design storm event. <br />Pond D West Area - This SAE covers 0.7 acres between the haulroad and pond embankment discharge point, along <br />with a portion of the overland belt. CYCC constructed a rock filter to treat any of the anticipated 0.04 acre-feet, 10- <br />year, 24-hour runoff from the area. <br />Pond F and Wastewater Treatment Facility - The Pond F/Wastewater Treatment Facility SAE covers approximately <br />5 acres and is located southwest and northwest of Pond F. The SAE area consists of a 0.5 acre paved parking lot and <br />slope which drains down to the west embankment of Pond F, the outslopes and tops of the ponds of the wastewater <br />treatment system, and the building and roads associated with the treatment facility. The building pads and roads are <br />graveled, minimizing the potential for sediment loss and transport from the area. Any drainage from this area will flow <br />along the north side of Pond F and light-use road railroad embankment. The area is well vegetated and a rock-check <br />dam will filter any surface runoff prior to discharge. <br />Overland Belt West - This SAE covers approximately 0.5 acres between the haulroad embankment and railroad tracks <br />west of the Haulroad C rail crossing. Runoff from this relatively flat area would be very limited, with estimated runoff <br />for the 10-year, 24-hour event of 0.03 acre-feet. Any limited drainage flows would be treated by a rock filter. <br />Haulroad C Topsoil Pile - The Haulroad C Topsoil Stockpile SAE covers approximately 0.3 acres between the <br />haulroad and Foidel Creek, and is located across from Pond C. Runoff from the area is approximately 0.01 acre-feet for <br />the 10-year, 24-hour event, with runoff flows to be controlled and filtered by a berm, rock filters, and the established <br />vegetative cover. <br />Scoria Storage Area (TR 0545) - A portion of the former Haul Road A northwest of Pond C is used as a storage area <br />for the scoria and gravel materials used in maintaining mine roads. The Scoria Storage area covers approximately 0.87 <br />acres. The surface of this area is graded so that most minor drainage is naturally contained. Runoff from any <br />significant storm event drains to the south and east, where an existing berm routes runoff flows to a sump and collection <br />ditch designed to treat the runoff from a 10-year, 24-hour storm event. From this ASC, the ditch directs drainage flows <br />through a well-established vegetative filter to Foidel Creek. The SAE demonstration for the Scoria Storage Area is <br />provided in Exhibit 8U. <br />Storage and Training Area (Trudy's Corner - TR 0545) - An area located east of Pinnacle Peak and northeast of <br />Pond A previously disturbed and used in conjunction with historic surface mining activities (Trudy's Corner), is <br />currently utilized as a materials storage and training area. This area encompasses approximately 0.78 acres. Drainage <br />from this area flows to the west to an existing drainage ditch along the Pond A access road, then approximately 0.15 <br />miles through the vegetated ditch and a well-established vegetative filter to Pond A. An SAE demonstration <br />documenting the effectiveness of this drainage configuration for the Storage and Training Area is provided in Exhibit <br />8U. <br />MR09-237 2.05-84.1 06/01/09
