8. Montrose County Impacts and Environmental Impacts •
The average total aggregate annual production will be 20,000 tons per year with an absolute
maximum of 200,000 tons per year. Potential negative impacts to Montrose County include:
- Truck traffic
- Noise, which will be minimized though the placements of berms around the perimeter of the
site and will be originating from 25' to 30' below the elevation of the surrounding properties
- Dust, although all operations of the site are regulated by the Air Quality Control Division of
the CDPHE
- Visual impacts, which are the subject of a specific evaluation as part of the Special Use
process, and will also be minimized by the use of berms.
Positive impacts to the community are a good supply of construction materials for the use of the
community at a reasonable cost.
•
The LaSalle Pit will be reclaimed to an industrial yard as shown on Map F. The operator will
work closely with DRMS to ensure that the reclamation plan is the best possible for achieving
the post-mining land use of an industrial yard. There will be portable sanitation facilities on site
but there will be no leach fields or other means of sewage disposal. All sanitary waste will be
stored in a holding tank and hauled off site periodically. There will be no new demands on
Montrose County services from the extraction areas.

LaSalle Pit, April 09 D-8
