• MINING PLAN <br />1. General Mining Plan <br />EXHIBIT D <br />The property boundary has been surveyed on site and the permit area will be surveyed and <br />marked prior to any site disturbance. Map C-2 shows the mining plan. <br />The access to the site will be from 6175 Road; an access road will be installed on the north side <br />of the operation for the mining of Phase 1. The gravel deposit is mostly flat with overburden and <br />topsoil ranging from 5' to 6' thick and gravel thickness ranging from 39' to 40' for a total of <br />approximately 45' of material. Groundwater is expected to be encountered anywhere from 30' to <br />40' below the surface, due to the presence of groundwater seepage over this range along the slope <br />downhill of the proposed pit area. Mining will therefore take place to a depth of 28' to stay <br />above the water table. Below the gravel is Mancos Shale. If any water is encountered in the pit, it <br />will immediately be backfilled. <br />• The expected thickness of topsoil is approximately 12 inches. Gravel will be mined and taken to <br />the crusher/screener by a loader. A dozer may also be used to push material to the loader. Mining <br />will take place over two phases. The first phase will be the miring out of the eastern 12.6 acres <br />of the pit, after which the area is to be used as a processing site and industrial yard. The second <br />phase will be mined out over several years, at the rate at which Montrose County needs material. <br />Topsoil and overburden will be used to build a set of berms around the site. <br />A 3' berm along the east side of the permit area will contain run-off within the active working <br />area of the site. A 6' undulating berm will be utilized along 6175 Road and LaSalle Road. These <br />berms will have 3H:1V side slopes, and will be vegetated upon placement. A 1'-2' high topsoil <br />berm with 2H:1 V side slopes will run along the crest of the active mining highwall at all times to <br />contain runoff from the unmined areas over the course of the mine life. <br />The berms will contain all of the runoff on site from the 100 year, 24 hour event.
