DENISON MINES (USA) CORP.
2009 ANNUAL REPORT
Sunday Mine - M-1977-285
The Sunday Mine resumed operations in May 2007. During the current reporting period, two vent holes
(S-12 & S-13) were installed as approved by the Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety and the
Bureau of Land Management (BLM). As of the date of this report, approximately 5,000 tons of ore were
produced from the Sunday Mine and shipped to Denison's White Mesa Mill, located near Blanding, Utah.
Denison Projects that approximately 4,000 tons of ore will be produced from the Sunday Mine in the
upcoming year.
In March of 2008, the Division provided notification to Denison Mines that the Sunday Mine is a
Designated Mining Operation. Denison initiated characterization of the waste rock and ore as a result of
this notification. In July and September, work plans for waste rock and groundwater analysis were
provided and approved by the Division. In August of this year, Denison conducted ore and waste rock
characterization sampling at the Sunday Mine. A summary report of this analysis was provided to the
Division in January of 2009. In December and January of 2009 groundwater sampling wells were
installed and groundwater samples were collected from the underground workings. A proposed
Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) was completed in May of 2009 prior to the submission of this
report.
This EPP includes the results of the material characterization, drainage report, surface water, and partial
ground water evaluations. The Designated Mining Operation process requires five quarters of
groundwater sampling. Preliminary results of the groundwater evaluation at the Mine sites indicate
additional groundwater characterization will need to be completed and the EPP contains a proposed path
forward for this analysis.
Exploration drilling will take place concurrent with mine operations at the Sunday Mine, and twenty two
exploration drill holes were completed to date. Additional drilling at the site is ongoing under approved
Notices of Intent.
A Weed Management Plan consistent with the requirements of San Miguel County and the BLM was
prepared for the Sunday Mines and approved by the BLM in April of 2009. Denison is coordinating
weed management activities with San Miguel County for June of 2009. Weed management conducted in
the spring of 2008 was provided to the Division in November of 2008.
All work completed at the Sunday Mine has been completed in conformance with approved Division
Mine Permits and Plans of Operation with the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management
(BLM).
No changes occurred in the Permit M-1977-285 area during the past year (with the exception of two new
vent holes). A drainage evaluation was completed for the Sunday Mines to ensure that drainage controls
will maintain surface water runoff protection from a 100-year 24-hour storm. As a result, routine
maintenance of berms and temporary sediment basins was completed in August of this year. This routine
maintenance was documented and reported to the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment in the annual reporting required by the Colorado Discharge Permit held by Denison and will
be provided in the Environmental Protection Plan to the Division in May 2009.
