Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety (DRMS) has finished the review of United / Old Castle's
request for a technical revision to the above referenced permitted site. Overall the responses clarify
issues noted in the review. It now appears that all issues have been addressed or clarified. Therefore
TR-03 to change the mine and reclamation plans from mining multiple cells to a single cell is approved.
The TR will become affective when the surety increase up to $377,400.00 is accepted by the Denver
Office.
Presently the information supplied to DRMS notes approximately 18 acre feet in an approved
augmentation plan of the Casey Pit. This appears to be a deficit of approximately 4 acre feet. This
deficit may be covered with the Chambers Pit plan if the wall between them is mined out as previously
planned. DRMS accepts United / Old Castle's assurance that no groundwater will be exposed beyond
losses already accounted for unless a new TSSP or modification is in place.
If you need additional information please contact me at the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety,
Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd St., Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, or by telephone
no. 970.241.1117.
Sincerely,
w ?
