3.5 Carnation Mine •

Description: The Carnation Mine is a uranium mining excavation facility that is on temporary
standby status with a former mine entrance portal that may be used for mine ventilation and
secondary escapeway. An old shop is located at this facility with no activity or storage and there
are no current mining operations at this location. The Site Location Map and mine-specific Site
Map are provided in Appendix A of this plan. The Site Map (Figure 2E) shows the location of
buildings.
Operation: The facility is no longer in operation. The site is not manned at this specific
location.
Bulk Storage: Carnation Mine has no bulk storage at this time.
Equipment: This facility has no SPCC-regulated equipment at this location.
Loading Operations: There are no loading operations that occur at the Carnation Mine.
Piping Systems: There are no sections of aboveground piping at this location.
Site Drainage: Surface drainage flows to the north and the northeast over a series of earthen
berms which act as water bars to slow the flow rate of runoff. A portion of the south half of the
site drains into a temporary sediment trap that is located in the middle of the site. The drainage •
from the berm and the trap discharges to the north into a tributary of Big Gypsum Creek, an
intermittent creek located approximately 1/2 mile north of the reclaimed mine area. Big Gypsum
Creek ultimately discharges west to the Dolores River, which ultimately discharges northwest to
the Colorado River. The topographic lines on Figure 2E in Appendix A depict the site flow
pattern, and Figure 1 shows the regional topography.
Denison Mines (USA) Corp. 17 SPCC Plan
Sunday Mines December 2007
