Most of the isotherms were <br />linear, which means that adsorption was likely the controlling attenuation <br />mechanism. The fact that the curved Langmuir Isotherms discussed in the element <br />descriptions (see Appendix A) were not obtained is a result of the solutions (e.g., <br />generated leachate) not containing high enough concentrations to completely saturate <br />the soils (i.e., to reach the adsorption capacity where the isotherm flattens out). The <br />interpretation of each of the isotherm plots is presented in Table 3-7.
