It is likely that rock ore currently being mined in
the Sunday Mines Group tends more towards the Type 2 classification of Botinelly and Weeks,
which is relatively less oxidized than Type 1 ore.
Within the development rock piles, surficial oxidation of the weakly mineralized Top Rim
sandstone rock causes the vanadium-uranium minerals to alter to more oxidized forms.
Additional information regarding sample mineralogy including microprobe analyses of selected
samples is presented in Attachment 1, which is described further in Section 4.
0 a
The Top Rim sandstone is the dominant rock type present in the development rock and ore
stockpiles. It is commonly medium grained, well rounded, gray sandstone with calcite cement.
The grain size of the rock particles ranges from fine sand to boulders. The median diameter is
approximately 2 inches based on a general visual evaluation. Local zones also contain reddish-
brown calcareous sandstone, which was mined from units adjacent to the Top Rim sandstone.
•
CM 1-5
T:1649864Dentaon Mines%Task Order 3 - DMO Sampling and Analysis PlanlTask 3.12 - Soil, Ore, Rock Data Assessment Report\Sunday Rock RepoMfinal reporAReporltFinal Sunday Mims Group Sell Ore Rock
Date Assessment Report_951509.doc
