five mines, Denison requested that the due date be set for 365 days after receipt of the Division's notice.
The extended timeframe was approved, and the due date for the EPP was set for February 7, 2009.
On June 6, 2008, the Division sent a letter to Denison that described the implementation of new
legislation (HB 1161) which changed the definition of a DMO, and stated that all uranium operations,
including the Sunday Mine, were now defined as DMOs. The DMO requirements cited in that letter may
have been misinterpreted to have reset the 365-day timeframe for submittal of the EPP, to be based on the
receipt of this second notice.
In a letter dated February 9, 2009, the Division acknowledged that the DMO time frame was
confusing due to changes in regulations and various notifications and determined that Pursuant to
HB 1161, Denison Mines must submit a completed EPP and all materials necessary to amend the
existing 112 permit to a I I2d-2 permit by June 8, 2009.
Enclosed are five separate checks for each permit as follows:
• Sunday Mine (M-1977-285) - $4,025.00 check number 37759
• Carnation Mine (M-1977-416) - $1,725.00 check number 37761
• St. Jude Mine (M-1978-039 HR) - $1,725.00 check number 37760
• West Sunday Mine (M-1981-021) - $7,475.00 check number 37763
• Topaz Mine (M-1980-055 HR) - $7,475.00 check number 37762
If you have any questions or comments regarding this EPP, please feel free to call me at 303-
389-4136.
Yours very truly,
DENISON MINES (USA) CORP.
>11Gc?Oadwa--d
Christy Woodward, PE
Environmental Coordinator
Cc: Denison Mines (USA) Corp., File
Camp, Dresser, and McKee, Inc., File
Dave Frydenlund, Terry Wetz, Phil Buck, Jim Fisher, Denison Mines (USA) Corp.
Helen Mary Johnson, Jamie Sellar Baker, US Bureau of Land Management
Enclosure.
DENISONIII
MINES
2
