_
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: m_9nnn-009
INSPECTION DATE: 5 91-9nn9 INSPECTOR=S INITIALS: 11 F
OBSERVATIONS
This was a follow-up inspection of the Tanabe Pit; DRMS file #M-2000-002. This site is located at 112th and
Brighton Road, in Adams County, Colorado. 1, Jared Ebert of the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and
Safety conducted the inspection. No one from the operation accompanied me on the inspection.
This inspection was conducted to follow-up on the corrective actions required from the September 26th, 2008
site inspection. Two problems were identified during the September inspection. The following narrative will
list the problems as they were identified in the September 2008 inspection report, and a description of the
current status of these issues will be given.
1.) Weed species were observed at the southern portion of the permit area.
a. Problem Cited:
i. Russian olive and Tamarisk trees have volunteered into the site and are becoming
established. This is a problem at this time for failure to employ weed control for weed
species that threaten the development of the desired vegetation. This is pursuant to
Rule 3.1.10 (6).
b. Corrective Action Taken:
i. The operator appears to have cut down and removed the trees that were present in this
portion of the permit area including the Russian olive and Tamarisk trees. It appears
that the slash from these cuttings has also been removed from the site. Since the
cutting treatment, the tamarisk trees have begun to sprout from the base of their
stumps. The operator will need to continue to monitor and mitigate the noxious weeds
found within the permit area. If the infestation is allowed to continue, the permit will
not be released.
2.) Trash and refuse was observed at the northern end of the site.
a. Problem Cited:
Trash and refuse was noticed on the site just north of the reservoir. This is a problem at
this time for failure to dispose of refuse in a manner that controls unsightliness or
deleterious effects of such refuse. This is pursuant to C.R.S. 34-32.5-116 (4) (e).
b. Corrective Action Taken:
i. It appears that the trash has been removed.
Overall, the operator has completed the corrective actions required from the September 2008 Inspection.
