(i) The proposed pit will intersect the water table. A dewatering trench will be
maintained around the active pit area which will drain to the west and terminate in a
settling and discharge pond immediately to the west of the pit area. Once sufficient
settling of solids has occurred, water will return to the La Plata River via natural
dissipation and ground discharge. In disturbed areas outside the active pit area, a storm
water containment berm will be constructed which will guide water to the dewatering
trench and subsequently to the settling /discharge pond. Silt fencing will be placed at the
runoff locations of the topsoil and overburden stockpiles to ensure their contents stay in
place until completion of reclamation of the site. Please see Exhibit E for the locations of
these components.
0) A Substitute Water Supply Plan (see Exhibit F) is currently being developed for this
project and will be submitted for approval from the State Engineer's Office. This plan
will likely utilize the existing water right of 1 cfs attached to this parcel and/or other water
sources within the La Plata River watershed to mitigate any impacts to existing water
rights as a result of this project.
(k) Refuse and acid or toxic producing materials are not anticipated during mining. If
they are encountered they will be disposed of and handled in a manner consistent with
CDOT and OSHA specifications.
(1) A Substitute Water Supply Plan (see Exhibit F) is currently being developed for this
project and will be submitted for approval from the State Engineer's Office. This plan
will likely utilize the existing water right of l cfs attached to this parcel and/or other water
sources within the La Plata River watershed to mitigate any impacts to existing water
rights as a result of this project. Stormwater management measures consisting of berms,
and silt fencing will be implemented on-site to minimize stormwater pollution. Please
see Exhibit E for the locations of these components.
(m) All aggregate material removed. from the site will be processed at the crusher facility
on-site. The crushing process consists of a Nielsons, Inc. portable aggregate processing
unit presently permitted with the Colorado Department of Public Health and
Environment. Main components of the plant are one primary crusher, two cone
crushers, one vertical shaft impact crusher with screens and associated conveyors. No
chemicals will be used in the processing of aggregates. Please see Exhibit E for the
locations of these components.
(n) This pit will be utilized to obtain approximately 155,325 metric tons of aggregates
for use in the production of hot bituminous pavement (BP). All materials will be
utilized in the CDOT Project #NH1601-046 - improvements to SH 160 between Wildcat
Canyon and Cherry Creek.
(o) No incidental products are anticipated as part of the proposed operation.
