Confirmation on whether the 5:1 slopes extend five feet above the static water line and
at least ten feet below. Yes they do, the slopes extend ten feet above the static water line
and fifteen to twenty feet below.
2. Past attempts to topsoil and seed banks in the past. Several years ago we tried to seed
some bank areas, but it was not successful. The main reason is that the banks are made up
of large cobblestones ( gravel ) and the wave action and fluctuating water levels the last
few years have not allowed for topsoiling.
3. Length of time the banks have existed at 5:1 gradient. Seventy five percent of the
banks have been sloped for over 7 years. The remaining twenty five percent have been
sloped for over four years. We have not excavated gravel in this pond for four years.
4. Need to dress any of the slopes for damage. The banks are solid and completely stable.
They cannot erode or move because they consist of larger oversize rock or cobble.
5. Available topsoil for future reclamation of the level facilities and processing area. We
have access to hundreds of yards of topsoil that we can buy from our adjacent land owner,
Mario Bassi. In addition we can stockpile an adequate amount on our land, which would
not be used for several years.
6. Weed control in future. We will continue to control the weeds in our permit area and
around the pond. The Rio Grande County Weed Control supervisor inspects our property
every year.
I hope I have adequately addressed your questions.
Thank ?
Tom Mathias
READY MIXED CONCRETE - WASHED SAND - CRUSHED ROCK - CONCRETE PLACEMENT
