Box <br />483, Paonia, CO, 81428, has sub- <br />mitted a complete application for a <br />technical revision to the Division of <br />Reclamation, Mining & Safety for its <br />;approved Bowie No. 2 Mine, mining <br />permit no. C-1996-083. The proposed <br />revision will incorporate drawings into <br />the permit application package that <br />show the 3H:1V slopes on the upper <br />portions of coal mine. waste disposal <br />area number 2. Bowie Resources, <br />LLC previously demonstrated that <br />slopes as steep as 3H:1 V for the <br />? upper portions of 'coal mine waste <br />disposal area number 2 will provide a <br />factor.of safety of 1.5, both during and <br />after construction, when proper meth- <br />ods of construction are used and site <br />conditions are periodically monitored. <br />Most of the mine facilities are located <br />north of Bowie Road near the town <br />of Bowie, CO. A pump station, three <br />sediment ponds, a coal mine waste <br />disposal area and unit train loadout <br />are located south of Bowie Road. The <br />Fire Mountain Canal is located south <br />of the mine facilities and north of the -- <br />unit train loadout. The North Fork of <br />the Gunnison River is located south <br />of the mine permit boundary.
