Nuvemco Monogram Mine SWMP
storm will generate 1.95 inches of precipitation. The 100-year 24-hour will generate 3.00
inches.
It is assumed that none of the precipitation that falls on the area will infiltrate and all of
the precipitation will become runoff. This is a worse case.
100-year 24-hour precipitation event
3.00 inches = 0.25 feet
Net area = 29,547 sq ft
29,547 sq ft x 0.25 ft = 7,386.75 cu ft = 55,259 gallons
10-,year 24-hour precipitation event
1.95 inches = 0.163 feet
29,547 sq ft x 0.163 ft = 4,801 cu ft = 35915 gallons
The total volume from the two events equals 12,187.75 cu ft or 43,300.75 cu ft.
By trial and error a pond a Detention Pond 35 ft wide by 45' long with 2:1 interior slopes
7 feet deep will be required without any freeboard to contain the runoff from the 10-yr
24-hr runoff. Previously a pond 30 ft x 40 ft by 5 ft deep was proposed. The proposed
pond will hold 99 % of the 10-year 24-hour storm.
LINER
The detention pond will be lined with a synthetic liner following the manufacturer's
specifications. A manufacturer and exact material has not been selected at this time.
FENCE
The detention pond, including the outlet will be surrounded by 5 foot tall fence with a 4
inch x 4 inch square grid design for wildlife protection.
REFERENCES
Linsley, Ray K, and Franzini, Joseph B., 1964.
