This will include maintaining a perimeter fence around the site, with the addition of appropriate
signage, as well as a temporary secondary fence around the shaft & temporary hoist system, as
discussed above.
Once the shaft has been opened, unless the project is to be abandoned after initial inspection, a
temporary steel bar grating deck will be installed over the shaft collar. This deck. will be similar
to the "grated shaft closure" method used by CDRMS for inactive mine closures. The deck will
have several bar grating hatch doors, framed in angle iron. These hatch doors will each have two
shrouded locks to deter unauthorized access. Penetrations for pipes and ventilation ducting will
be kept at close tolerances.
All equipment, trailers, and containers will be kept locked when the site is unoccupied.
Termination and Restoration
Upon completion of this project or if the mine condition is determined to be unsuitable for this
project, all temporary equipment (including ventilation fans, lighting, safety equipment, etc.) and
structures (headframe, hoist, and trailers) will be removed from the site. The mine will be re-
closed using the above-mentioned pre-cast lifting cap. Security fences will be restored to their
original condition or better. All disturbed areas, other than the existing road, will be stabilized
and re-vegetated with Native Seed mix #2 to as good or better than existing conditions, per the
reclamation plan included in the CDRMS Prospecting NOI that is attached herein.
The road to the Horse Draw Mine will not be maintained by Shell after this work has been
completed., but the existing road and any road improvements resulting in disturbance within the
existing road prism will not be reclaimed.
Attachments:
1.
