Colowyo generally uses a dozer to remove brush resulting in a
corridor width of approximately 25 feet. This allows for the necessary vehicles to access the corridor for
placement and retrieval of the facility. In all cases temporary facilities are installed in an overland
fashion, minimizing the impacts to the environment.
Main Office
The main office for the Colowyo operation is located in Section 23, Township 4 North, Range 93 West.
The office building was constructed in 1977 and contains approximately 9,000 square feet. Employees use the change
facility/production building in this location before and after their shift to change either into their work
clothes or back into their street clothing. Shower facilities are provided in the change complex. Additional
structures in the complex include a diesel fueling and gasoline fueling station for both the large mobile
mine equipment and the mine pickup truck fleet, a tank farm building and numerous above ground
storage tanks..
