Pnhlir NntirP <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, of the <br />Colorado Revised Statutes, hereby issues notice that on April 6, 2009, a minor revision application <br />(MR-352) to the West Elk Mine, Permit No. C-1980-007, operated by Mountain Coal Company, <br />LLC, P.O. Box 591, Somerset, CO 81434 was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The <br />mine operator proposes to drill 17 coal exploration holes inside the existing mine permit area in the <br />Dry Fork area and on Lions Mesa. Twelve of the holes will be on USFS land at locations that have <br />previously been approved for drilling disturbance; eleven of these will eventually be converted to <br />methane drainage wells that were previously approved in PR-14. Five of the holes will be on private <br />land and will not be converted to methane drainage wells. Proposed total new disturbance in the <br />17,155-acre permit area is 1.9 acres.
