COLORADO 80751
Exhibit D
Mining Plan
The current active area of the Schumacher Pit and the expansion area will be mined in 2-
3 acre sections, working from the North end of the current area to the South end of the
expansion area.
A front-end loader, scraper and bulldozer will be used to extract the gravel from the pit.
No screening will be done. No waters will be diverted or impounded. No explosives will
be used in the mining process.
The pit will be mined in 2-3 acre sections. Each section is expected to be mined for
approximately three (3) years. Mined sections will be sloped prior to mining activities
being moved into a new area. Previously mined and sloped sections will be seeded in
late fall to early spring.
2-3 feet of overburden will be removed and retained to be used when re-sloping. Very
little top soil exists in the affected area. No top soil will be removed.
The primary commodity to be mined is gravel. There are no secondary or incidental
commodities. The gravel will be used for road beds in Logan County.
The gravel to be mined is 2-3 feet below the surface. The gravel layer is approximately
15' thick. The underlying stratum is clay.
The pit will be mined to steeper than 4:1 slopes and them backfilled to the final 4:1 slope.
There will be enough overburden to back fill the slopes to the final 4:1 slope
