The core hole will be used to
verify resources and the presence or absence of halite in- the new 12H cavity that is in the existing Panel 2.
The core hole will likely be converted into a B-Groove monitoring well. Natural Soda, Inc. must comply
with State of Colorado Office of the State Engineer Water Well Construction Rules, 2 CCR 402-2,
specifically, Rule 14.2.1 which states that a monitoring and observation hole must be constructed within
ninety days of giving notice to the State Engineer and construction must be completed within 72 hours after
drilling the borehole.
• The revision also includes an additional 1.44 acres of disturbance for the well pad and access road
associated with the proposed additional well.
The terms of Technical Revision No. 27 approved by the Division are hereby incorporated into Permit No. M-1983-
194. All other conditions and requirements of Permit No. M-1983-194 remain in full force and effect.
Staff calculations estimate the additional cost to reclaim the site to be $23,983.00, added to the existing required
reclamation bond amount of $1,810,465.00 for a total reclamation bond amount of $1,834,448.00, rounded off to
$1,834,450.00 . The estimate is based on the increased reclamation liability associated with Technical Revision No.
27. Natural Soda, Inc. must submit and have accepted the Financial Warranty for the technical revision to the
permit to become active. Please review the estimate carefully. Should there be any questions or corrections
contact staff immediately. For questions regarding bond placement please contact Elizabeth Taliaferro at phone
no. (303) 866-3567, extension 8148.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand Junction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
