c. Please see the attached memorandum prepared by Wright Water Engineers, Inc. that
concludes that there are no bedrock aquifers within or adjacent to the permit area that
should be listed as renewable resource lands. The terms "water bearing bedrock" and
"water-bearing alluvium" are not synonymous with "bedrock aquifer", so these resources
were not added to the new table.
d. MCC believes that the Monument Dam and Minnesota Reservoir discussions
regarding subsidence monitoring and potential future repairs are sufficiently discussed in
section 2.05.6 (6) on pages 2.05-150 and 2.05-172 of the current permit text., as well as
in Exhibits 72, 74, and 76 in Volume 14. Therefore the discussions on permit page 2.05-
109 have been deleted. See the revised page attached.
9. A definition for "angle of draw" was added as a footnote to Table 42 on page 2.05-10.5 as
follows. "The angle-of-draw is the angle between a vertical line drawn upward to the
ground surface from the edge of a mined panel (or section of panels) and a line drawn
from the edge of a mined panel (or section of panels) to the point of zero surface
subsidence (i.e. where there is no measurable or evident subsidence on the ground
surface.) The definition of "critical mining width" was also moved from the general text
above the table and inserted as a footnote to the table.
