are no planted species with greater than 70% relative cover. However, the present relative cover of
perennial warm-season grasses (1.7 %) and perennial forbs or sub-shrubs (0%) is insufficient to pass the
required minimum values (2.0% and 0.5%, respectively). This unit has shown improvement, however,
from the last sampling effort in 2006, when the relative cover of perennial, warm-season grasses was
0%.
Qualitative analysis indicates that the Cameo RDA No. 1 area is in average condition overall. This
area displays great diversity between species and layering of vegetation. Grass diversity is excellent
within this unit. The invasive weed jointed goatgrass (Cylindropyrum cylindricum) was observed on the
east portion of the unit.
3.9 Cameo RDA No. 2 - 2002 Seeding
Ground cover of the 2002 seeding of the Cameo RDA No. 2 consisted of 53.3% live vegetation,
14.9% rock, 14.4% litter, and bare soil exposure of 17.4% (Table 3b). Perennial cover across the unit
averaged 25.3% (up from 15.4% in 2006) with annual and biennial cover averaging 28.0% (up from
23.7% in 2006). Dominant taxa were cheatgrass, fourwing saltbush, greasewood, and forage kochia
with 27.1%, 19.3%, 2.6%, and 2.0% average cover, respectively.
This unit passes the revegetation success criterion of 90% of the Shadscale Reference Area value
when both annual and perennial cover values are combined. It also passes when only perennial cover is
compared (Table 1).
The 2002 seeding of the Cameo RDA No. 2 currently passes only two of the four diversity standards.
There is sufficient cover of perennial forbs or sub-shrubs to pass the required minimum values, and there
are no planted species with greater than 70% relative cover. However, the present relative cover of
perennial warm-season grasses (0%) and perennial cool-season grasses (0%) is insufficient to pass the
required minimum values (2.0% and 0.5%, respectively).
Qualitative analysis indicates that the Cameo RDA No. 2 area is in average condition overall. Shrub
density and diversity was higher on the flat areas than the slopes.
3.10 Roadside Refuse Borrow
Ground cover of the Roadside Refuse Borrow Area consisted of 34.1% live vegetation, 3.1% rock,
31.3% litter, and bare soil exposure of 31.5% (Table 3b). Perennial cover across the unit averaged 8.4%
(up from 7.7% in 2006) with annual and biennial cover averaging 25.7% (down slightly from 25.9% in
CEDAR CREEK ASSOCIATES, Inc.
