Qualitative analysis indicates this revegetation is in average condition overall. Shrub density is
excellent throughout the unit; however forbs and grass populations are patchy.
3.2 Cameo Borrow Area No. 2
Ground cover of the Cameo Borrow Area No. 2 consisted of 56.5% live vegetation, 6.9% rock,
21.4% litter, and bare soil exposure of 15.2% (Table 3a). Perennial cover across the unit averaged
25.8% (up from 22.1% in 2006) with annual and biennial cover averaging 30.7% (up from 22.1% in
2006). Dominant taxa were cheatgrass, fourwing saltbush, and forage kochia (Kochia prostrata) with
30.6%, 19.1%, and 4.3% average cover, respectively.
This unit passes the revegetation success criterion of 90% of the Greasewood Reference Area value
when both annual and perennial cover values are combined. It also passes when only perennial cover is
compared (Table 1).
The Cameo Borrow Area No. 2 currently passes only two of the four diversity standards. There is
sufficient cover of perennial forbs or sub-shrubs to pass the required minimum values, and there are no
planted species with greater than 70% relative cover. However, the present relative cover of perennial
warm-season grasses (0%) and perennial cool-season grasses (0.4%) is insufficient to pass the required
minimum values (2.0% and 0.5%, respectively).
Qualitative analysis indicates that the Cameo Borrow Area No. 2 was in fair to average overall
condition. Cheatgrass was pervasive throughout the area, contributing to minimal bare ground exposure
and a low vegetative diversity.
3.3 Cameo Topsoil Piles
Ground cover of the Cameo Topsoil Piles consisted of 64.1% live vegetation, 5.9% rock, 20.8%
litter, and bare soil exposure of 9.2% (Table 3a). Perennial cover across the unit averaged 29.4% (up
from 17.5% in 2006) with annual and biennial cover averaging 34.7% (down from 36.5% in 2006).
Dominant taxa were cheatgrass and fourwing saltbush with 33.1%, and 29.2% average cover,
respectively.
This unit passes the revegetation success criterion of 90% of the Greasewood Reference Area value
when both annual and perennial cover values are combined. It also passes when only perennial cover is
compared (Table 1).
The Cameo Topsoil Piles currently passes only one of the four diversity standards: there are no
planted species with greater than 70% relative cover.
