1 12 APPLICATION PAGE 25 OF 35
6.4.1 1 EXHIBIT L - Reclamation Costs
Reclamation of the project site will consist lining the new ponds with gravel and seeding
the affected land not within the ponds areas as well as removing the gravel haul roads. If
importing fill material is required to reclaim the site, the fill material will consists of non-
hazardous soil, concrete, rock, and brick such that no single piece of material has a
dimension larger than two (2) feet on any face. No material larger than six (6) inches in
diameter will be placed within the top two feet of the final grade.
To minimize the amount of reclamation bonding required for the project, the applicant
would limit the excavation pit area (backfill area, sand and gravel high wall, and
overburden high wall) to no more than three acres. By limiting the size to three acres, the
estimated volume of backfill material required to reclaim the site is approximately 130,680
cubic yards.
The applicant has existing stockpiled material stored at the site that will be used for the
mining operations. At the present time 9,000 cubic yards of fill is stockpiled in a berm
located at the southeast corner of the site, and 9,000 cubic yards fill is stockpiled along the
north property line.
The reclamation cost estimate assumes that a majority of the reclamation work required is
located the farthest point away from the material stockpile locations. The estimate
assumes the following:
• 44.6 acres to be backfilled/compacted;
19.8 total acres requires topsoil replacement;
19.8 acres will be deep tilled prior to topsoil placement;
19.8 acres to be disked, mulched, seeded and fertilized;
Gravel haul roads and scale house to be demolished;
Two settlement ponds at 1 acre each are to be demolished;
Two gravel lined ponds will be created totaling 24.8 acres
# DESCRIPTION QUAN UNIT $/UNIT TOTAL
1 Recom act Site 216,000 SY $ 0.50 $108,000
2 Gravel Line Ponds 6" THICK 20,000 CY $ 5.00 $100,000
3 Demolish Settlement Ponds (2 times 1 Acre) 10,000 CY $ 1.00 $ 10,000
4 Remove Haul Roads/ Scale Structure 1 LS $ 2,500.00 $ 2,500
5 To soil Placement From Stockpile 16,000 CY $ 0.87 $ 13,920
6 Mulch, Seed, and Fertilize 16,000 CY $ 10.00 $160,000
7 Weed Control 44.6 AC $ 100.00 $ 4,460
TOTAL $ 398,880
E
