(Page 2)
MINE ID # OR PROSPECTING ID #: M-1999-029
INSPECTION DATE: 4/27/09 INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
OBSERVATIONS
This was a routine monitoring inspection for an active 1 l Oc clay mine/pit operation conducted by Eric Scott of
DRMS of the Logan County Bob Terrill Clay Pit site. DRMS met with Gordon Lambert and Betty Green of
Logan County and traveled with them to the site. The required site entrance postings and site boundary markers
were present.
The site is currently being used as a county clay pit were material to line landfill cells has been removed. The
pit and appeared to be well run, maintained, and in compliance at the time of inspection, although it appeared
that it had been some time since any excavation had taken place. No bond is required for this site as it is a
county government operated pit. Erosion gullies are starting to form on the existing slopes of the pit in the NW
corner. If no more material removal is anticipated at this location the slopes of the pit should be graded to 3:1
or flatter, and the area should be reclaimed and prepared for release. If the pit is to remain open, erosion control
measures for the steeper slopes should be taken.
I & E Contact Address
Kris Pennington
Logan County Planning Coordinator
315 Main Street
Sterling, CO 80751
