112331-1 <br />t <br />NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety proposes to Ap- <br />prove Technical Revision Application <br />No. 79 (TR-79) for the Colowyo Coal <br />Mine (Permit No. C-1981-019), submit-. <br />ted by Colowyo Coal Company L.R. <br />The Colowyo Coal Company has sub- <br />mitted a Technical Revision for the <br />Colowyo Mine to update its backfilling <br />and rough grading schedule for the <br />West Pit. This revision provides a <br />long-term plan to achieve reclamation <br />in the West Pit as contemporaneously <br />as possible. This revision' does not <br />change the post_mining topography or <br />the volumes required for the reclama- <br />tion of the West Pit. There is no pro- <br />posed change to the mine's disturb- <br />ance boundary or permit boundary with <br />this revision. There will not be any in- <br />crease in the mine's reclamation liabil- <br />ity as a result of this revision. <br />The Colowyo Coal Mine is a surface <br />coal mine' located in Moffat County, <br />approximately 28 miles south of Craig, <br />Colorado. Coal interest is Federal, and <br />the surface affected is Federal, state <br />and private land. The permit area en- <br />compasses approximately 12,250.95 <br />acres. <br />This proposed decision is based on a <br />finding that the proposed operation will <br />comply with all requirements of the <br />Colorado Surface Coal Mining Recla- <br />mation Act, Section 34-33-101, et seq., <br />. C.R.S., and the regulations promul- <br />gated thereunder. <br />Copies of the proposed decision, in- <br />cluding stipulations; are on file for pub- <br />lic inspection at the Colorado Division <br />of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, . <br />Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 <br />Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado <br />80203. Persons with an interest that <br />may be adversely affected by the pro- <br />posed decision may request a formal <br />hearing before the Mined Land Recla- <br />mation Board on the proposed deci- <br />sion.
