Ill. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
This was a partial inspection conducted by Kent Gorham of the Colorado Division of
Reclamation, Mining, and Safety (Division). This mine site is currently completing the final
stages of reclamation of disturbed areas. Ground conditions were mostly dry and the
weather was clear and mild. Ron Thompson of Peak Project Management accompanied me
on the inspection.
Hydrologic Balance
Ponds visited at the site were found dry. Ponds 6, 7, 8, 9, and 9a were all dry, indicating that
recent weather within the past week produced little in terms of storm runoff.
Ditches, especially at the base of the steep north-facing slope, are nearly full of sediment and
require cleanout to result in proper function.
A small gully has developed on the north-east corner of the far eastern bench of the
reclaimed area. This gully may need some touch-up with soil material and re-seeding. Also,
it may be of benefit to limit any runoff contributions from the bench above, possibly with straw
bales, to prevent any future problems.
Topsoil
The topsoil borrow area located in the bottom of Jeff Canyon, shown below, has been
regraded, mulched, and re-seeded.
_?{,? ?•?- ??.,- ? .'i . ? ..:;mss..., ?''11??
T
• ?-
s,4,w ? •?.r,Sti
•
i'?? -
Ez'
