(BMRI), Telesto Solutions, Inc.
(Telesto) has conducted an evaluation and analysis of current ground water chemistry
conditions in the West Pit of the San Luis Mine, Costillo County, Colorado (Figure 1).
Based on available water chemistry information, constituent concentrations in ground
water of the West Pit are approaching steady-state values after steadily decreasing since
implementation of the ground water control program outlined in Technical Revision 26
(TR-26) to permit number M-118-89. Given the West Pit ground water chemistry steady-
state condition, a comparison between pre-mining water chemistry and current conditions,
as contemplated in TR-26, is warranted.
Information drawn upon to complete this analysis includes baseline descriptions and data
as presented in the original mine permit application, additional data generated during
development of TR-26, and the ground water quality database that has been developed in
conjunction with performance monitoring of the TR-26 ground water control program.
This technical memorandum evaluates the pre-mining and post-mining geologic,
hydrologic, and geochemical conditions with the objective of demonstrating that current
constituent concentrations in the West Pit backfill are equal to or less than pre-mining
conditions. BMRI and Telesto acknowledge that the ground water level control in the
West Pit should be maintained to continue the current ground water chemistry conditions.
p:Iprojecisl2l2-newmont(s luis)Lsmluislir-28wlglVlpmmine westpiedoc
