The following equipment may be used for the surface mining of the Last Chance Mine area.
• Dozer - Cat D5M
• Excavator - Cat 315 CL
• Loader - Cat 938 H
• Ore Buggy (5 yard - as needed)
• Flat-Bed Truck with 350 gal water tank, 1 ton
• Pick-up Truck with fuel tank, 3/4 ton
• Additionally, the exploratory drilling operations will use the following mobile
equipment:
10 wheel, self leveling drill rig equipped for air rotary drilling
• A truck mounted compressor to supplement air for the drilling rig if needed
• A water truck equipped with hoses and road watering sprays to mitigate dust (and assist
in fire fighting if needed)
• Pick-up Truck with fuel tank, 3/4 ton
Notes:
(a) Highway ore-hauling trucks will be provided by a contractor on an as needed basis.
(b) Miscellaneous rental and contract equipment will be brought to the Last Chance Mine site as
needed, including surveying, welding, drilling, material delivery trucks and concrete and gravel
trucks.
6. Air Pollution Emission
The mining activities at the Monogram Pit were reviewed and annual emissions calculated for
NOx, CO and particulate for each of the sources. The sources were identified as heavy
equipment, excavation / material transfer, and haul road activities. Through this evaluation it
was determined that no Air Pollution Emission Notice (APEN) was required as none of the
sources exceeded two tons of emissions for the criteria pollutants.
As detailed in Appendix I, the heavy equipment was calculated to emit 1.04 tons of NOx, 0.53
tons of CO, and 0.04 tons of particulate annually. The construction and materials handling will
emit 0.87 tons of PM10 and 0.13 tons of PM2.5. The haul road activities will emit 1.91 tons of
PM 10 and 0.29 tons of PM2.5.
7. Surface Drainage Control Structures
A berm will be constructed on the south side of the Waste Rock Areas to prevent run-on from the
rising slope to the south, although most of the water will be diverted by ditches on both sides of
Montrose County Road DD 16.. A berm will be constructed around the south and east perimeter
of the ore to direct any potential run-off from the waste rock pile to a sediment pond constructed
in the low lying area north of the office trailer. A ditch and/or slight berm will be constructed on
the up-gradient side of the haul road for drainage control as shown on Map D-1.
Last Chance Mine - April 2009
D-4
