December 27, 2007
Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety
1313 Sherman Street
Room 215
Denver, Co. 90203
REcEIVE®
JAN 0 4 2008
Division uv ? d n
Safety
Mining
Re: Technical Revision to the New Horizon Mine Permit no. C-$1-008 by Western
Fuels-Colorado (WFQ in Nucla, CO.
Dear Sirs:
I writing this letter as a formal protest to the application for a Technical Revision to the New
Horizon Mane Permit No. C-81.008 Section 2.05.4(2)e. This Technical revision covers the
change in Success Standards in Irrigated pasture from a standard to a reference area.
We are objecting to what the revision actually contains and the properties involved. I have
bought many I OWs of tons of alfalfa hay from the Morgan property which is the property this
revision affects. This property is prime alfalfa farmland not pasture lands. The reason I buy
from them is they sell dairy quality alfalfa with NO grass. This alfalfa is very high protein
content and it is the only straight A.1f1dfa that I know of sold. in this part of the country. L along
with many others have bought this hay for many years. I feel very strong that the land needs
to be put back in the condition that it is or better. The production of straight alfalfa is very
limited in this area and we need to be able to keep buying alfalfa from the Morgan ranch not
a grass mix or just pasture land where there is little or no production.
We depend on this hay every year.
Thank you, / f
