Non-Tributary Support: Cash Mine Borehole AdrianBrown
1. INTRODUCTION
Mount Royale Ventures, LLC ("MRV") is applying for a permit to withdraw and beneficially use non-
tributary water from the Cash Mine (Dewatering) Borehole under 37-90-137(7) C.R.S. This report has
been prepared by Adrian Brown, P.E., acting as authorized agent for MRV (Attachment 1). The report
provides support geohydrology information for the Form GWS-45 General Purpose Water Well
Application for this permit, to which it is appended.
2. BOREHOLE
2.1 Location
The Cash Mine Borehole is located in Boulder County, approximately 7 miles west-northwest of
Boulder. It is located in the NW '/4 of the SE '/4 of Section 12, Township IN, Range 72W of the 6th
Principal Meridian. The location of the borehole is shown in Plate 1. Also shown on Plate 1 is the
location of the land owned or controlled at the site by MRV. Details of the land ownership are provided
in Attachment 2.
The Cash Mine is a gold mine, which has been operated intermittently since the late 1800s. MRV has
undertaken exploration for additional reserves, and is proposing to restart mine production in early
2007.
2.2 Cash Mine Borehole
The borehole was drilled into the Cash Mine for a previous mine operator in September-October 1998
for the purpose of dewatering the mine. It is not known to be registered with the State of Colorado. The
borehole was completed to a depth of 552 feet below collar elevation (8106.84 ft msl), which is
equivalent to the #7 Level of the mine. The borehole location is shown relative to the overall property
area on Plate 1, and relative to the mine area on Plate 2. The completion is shown relative to the existing
Cash Vein workings in section in Plate 4.
The borehole is lined with 6" diameter welded steel casing, cemented from top to bottom with neat
cement grout. The borehole terminates in Level 7 of the mine, at an approximate elevation of 7553 ft
msl (552 feet below collar). The bottom of the hole is open to the mine void, and there is no screen.
2.3 Geology
No geologic log was apparently retained during the drilling of the borehole. Based on the geologic
information from the adjacent mine, and from Gable (1980)1, the hole is located in Precambrian Boulder
Creek Granodiorite for its entire length. This rockmass is grey, pinkish gray to black and white medium-
grained to very coarse grained locally porphyritic rock composed of microcline, plagioclase, and quartz,
and lesser amounts of biotite and hornblende.
"Geologic Map of the Gold Hill Quadrangle, Boulder County, Colorado", Dolores J.
