Cash M i neWaterMonitori ng Ad6anBrown
1
1. INTRODUCTION
Mount Royale Ventures, LLC ("MRV") holds Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Colorado
' Department of Natural Resources Permit M-1983-141 for the mining of the Cash Mine, Boulder County,
Colorado.
' This report contains the Comprehensive Water Monitoring Plan required pursuant to that Permit.
2. SETTING
' 2.1 Location
The Cash Mine is located in Section 12 Township IN Range 72W 6'h Principal Meridian, at a surface
' elevation of approximately 8,000 feet msl on the flank of a steep ridge near Gold Hill, Colorado. The
mine location and the surrounding area are shown in Plate 1.
' 2.2 Precipitation
The precipitation at Gold Hill, half a mile from the site, averages 19.5 inches per year', with the peak
' occurring in April and May. Winters are in general relatively dry.
2.3 Geology
' The geology in the vicinity of the Cash Mine comprises a shallow mantle of soil (typically a few feet or
less thick) overlying Precambrian Boulder Granodiorite, which is described as "grey, pinkish gray to
' black and white medium-grained to very coarse grained locally porphyritic rock composed of microcline,
plagioclase, and quartz, and lesser amounts of biotite and hornblende" Gable (1980)2. The gold ore is
contained in quartz veins and other local intrusives located along faults and mayor fissures in the country
' rock.
2.4 Structure
' The rock fabric in the vicinity of the Cash Mine is shown in Plate 23. The district has a significant
number of large veins and faults, frequently oriented approximately NE-SW, and crossing structure
approximately normal to the main fabric. The orebodies in the district are in general located on the main
' structures. The structures in the district also generally comprise permeable conduits in the rockmass.
1 J
http://www.city-data.conVcity/Gold-Hill-Colorado.html
2 Gable, D.J., 1980.
