other operational modifications. This project includes an extension of the Cresson
Project mine life through 2016.
Amendment 9 also incorporates the Cameron Mine Permit (M-1991-134) into the
Cresson Project Permit (M-1980-244). On December 4, 2008, CC&V requested
termination of the Cameron Permit (M-1991-134) and release of the associated financial
warranty. Reclamation of the Cameron site is now fully included in the Cresson Project
Amendment 9 approval and financial warranty.
Technical Revisions (TRs) were submitted to and approved by the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS) for:
• TR-52 - Phase IV b/c perimeter liner extension
• TR-53 -Amendment 9 backfilling and regrading plan for North Cresson
• TR-54 - Main Cresson noise and visual berm
Enhancement and general maintenance of stormwater control features continued in 2008.
Remaining Amendment No. 8 activities and construction of Amendment 9 activities will
continue throughout 2009 and beyond.
Reclamation in the fall of 2008 consisted of recontouring and seeding portions of the
decommissioned Victor Leach Pads and Ponds 6, 7, and 8 associated with the decommissioned
Pads 3 and 4.
The Victor Leach Pad reclamation consisted of approximately 25 acres which were regraded to
approximately 2.5H:1 V to prevent erosion, enhance revegetation, and blend with the surrounding
topography. No growth medium was added, but the area was ripped on contour then fertilized
and seeded.
The second project consisted of recontouring and seeding approximately 3 acres of Ponds 6, 7, 8
which had been backfilled in 2007. No growth medium was added to this area, however finer
grained material was spread over portions of the area to promote revegetation. The area was also
fertilized and seeded.
Weed control techniques were implemented within the Cresson Project area in 2008 and will
continue in 2009.
Per the requirements of C.R.S. 34-32-116(3), and C.R.S. 34-32.5-116(3)(a):
Reclamation accomplished to date: Approximately 285.5 acres
Reclamation accomplished during the preceding year: Approximately 28 acres of
disturbance associated with the Cresson Project (Victor Pads and Ponds 6, 7, 8) was
reclaimed in 2008 as described above.
New disturbances anticipated during the upcoming year. Continued development
