("Denison") of the
transformer vandalism at the Van 4 Mine site. The Mine was vandalized and copper from the electrical system
was torn out and stolen. The vandals took one of the transformers at the Mine site down and dumped it out,
spilling oil onto the ground. The transformer was then carried to the parking lot where the remainder of the oil
was spilled and the copper stripped from the transformer. An additional four transformers remained on the site.
In an effort to reclaim the affected area, a crew and a small excavator were deployed to the site in March of
2009. The soil in the area where visible oil staining was observed was dug up and aerated. The soil was
excavated three to four feet in some areas going past the point of any visible oil staining. The transformers
were then removed from the site. The soil in the parking lot area was also aerated. A photographic log of this
cleanup effort is enclosed. Please feel free to contact me directly at 303.389.4136 if you have any additional
questions or concerns.
Yours very truly,
DENISON MINES (USA) CORP.
Christy Woodward, PE
Environmental Coordinator
Cc: Denison Mines (USA) Corp., File
Terry Wetz, Phil Buck, Danny Flannery, Jim Fisher, Denison Mines (USA) Corp.
Russ Means and oob Oswald, Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
Enclosure.
,EN1S0Nr)
MINES
