III. COMMENTS -COMPLIANCE
Below are comments on the inspection. The comments include discussion of observations made
during the inspection. Comments also describe any enforcement actions taken during the inspection
and the facts or evidence supporting the enforcement action.
The Division conducted an Aerial Inspection of the Hamilton Mine. Aerial photos were taken by
Harry Ranney on 1 1 March 2009. The photos were reviewed and this inspection report prepared
by Marcia Talvitie.
Hydrologic Balance
Pond A was completely dry.
Pond B appeared to have very little (if any) water. The bottom of Pond B appeared to be
muddy.
There was no evidence of erosion occurring within the reclaimed areas.
Only isolated patches of snow remain, and these all occur on north-facing slopes.
Revegetation
Shrub development within the reclaimed areas is patchy.
Eastern portions of Mine Area 1 appear to be nearly devoid of vegetative cover.
Photo
A photo of the permit area is attached to this report.
Hamilton Mine C-1991-078 11-Mar-2009
