Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
We have completed a preliminary adequacy review of the above-referenced submittal, and have the
following comments.
1. Please reconcile the following two apparent discrepancies in the submittal:
a) Table 2 lists 12 holes on USFS land. The map shows an additional 5 holes outside
USFS land.
b) Page 2, first paragraph, says three drill sites were previously approved as methane
drainage wells. The map shows 11 drill sites that were previously approved as
methane drainage wells.
2. Rule 4.05.18(1) prohibits a disturbance within 100 feet of a stream having a drainage area
greater than one square mile, unless the Division makes specific findings. Will stream-
channel diversions, as defined in Rule 1.04(37), be necessary for holes F, G, or I? If yes,
then please add to the submittal descriptions of the diversions.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
7" /6c-
Tom Kaldenbach
Environmental Protection Specialist
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver • Grand Junction • Durango Active and Inactive Mines
