The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has completed the review of the above referenced Notice of
Intent modification application. It appears that all issues have been addressed and the application meets the
requirements of the Act and Rules. Therefore staff is pleased to inform American Shale Oil, LLC that
Modification No. 1 is approved.
Modification No. 1 addresses the following:
• Changes to the drilling program which include the plugging and abandonment of a core
hole(already complete), installation of one new bore hole on the TM Pad, relocation of the 4
tomography wells from the TP Pad to the TM Pad, deletion of wells T-1 and HB-1.
• The project now proposes to drill the boreholes on 5 drill pads rather than the originally proposed
four pads.
• The modification reduces the total disturbance from 11.1 acres to 10.0 acres.
The terms of the Modification No. 1 approved by the Division are hereby incorporated into Permit No. 11-2008-046.
All other conditions and requirements of Permit No. P-2008-046 remain in full force and effect.
The Division currently holds reclamation bond of $392,000.00 for this project which appears to be adequate to
reclaim the site due to the proposed overall reduction of the size and scope of the project.
