A modified Table 2.05.4-
T1, Surface Disturbance Summary on PAP page 2.05-50a is attached herein.
Each borehole will be drilled 12 '/4 inch diameter to approximately 20 feet above the coal. 9 5/8
inch steel casing is cemented into the hole to approximately within 100' of the coal. 7 inch
slotted steel casing will be installed to within 10 feet above the coal. Approximately 60 - 100
feet of the slotted 7 inch pipe will be extended up or overlap into the 9 5/8 inch casing.
Drainage and Sediment Control
The drainage and sediment control system for these Elk Creek mine gob vent boreholes will be
consistent with the previously constructed Elk Creek Mine and Sanborn Creek. Mine gob vent
boreholes. The drainage and sediment control for the Elk Creek Mine borehole sites will be _
managed as a small area exemption with alternative sediment control provided by a combination
of perimeter sediment control berms/ditches and installation of straw bales, straw waddles or silt
fence, etc. to reduce flow velocity and trap sediment. To facilitate the control of upland
drainage, if the site is suitable, an upland clean water diversion will be constructed to reduce
overland flow into the effected area. Permit Map 2.05-M4 (4t' sheet) Drainage and Sediment
Control Plan provides a typical example of a drill pad lay out. Exhibit 2.05-E3, Drainage and
Sediment Control Plan, Section 9, Revised and New SAE's and Alternative Sediment Controls
provides typical designs and demonstrations for alternative sediment control and clean water
ditch scenarios. Exhibit 2.05-E3, Drainage and Sediment Control Plan, Section 6 contains
information regarding mudpit hydrology demonstrations.
0 Page 3
