Sherman Executive Director Ronald W. Cattany Division Director Natural Resource Trustee The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received a revision for the Bowie No. 2 Mine. The revision was called complete on March 31, 2009. The decision due date is May 30, 2009. In Technical Revision No. 59, Bowie Resources LLC is proposing to include sediment control demonstrations into the permit application for two areas at the Bowie No. 2 Mine. One set of demonstrations is intended to show that the vegetation growing on the outslopes of the railroad track bench is sufficient to meet the sediment control standard without the use of silt fence or a sediment pond. The remaining demonstration is intended to show that the sediment control standard can be met at the Hubbard Creek pump station with the use of silt fence, rather than with a sediment pond. No increase in disturbed lands will occur with this revision. The railroad track bench outslope is on private land while the Hubbard Creek pump station is on land managed by the USDA-Forest Service.
