Kerr (Marr) Mine - 2008 Annual Hydrology Report
5.0 LOADOUT AREA ALLUVIAL GROUNDWATER
Two alluvial wells (AP-1 and AP-2) were monitored for field measurements in October 2007 and then on
a monthly basis from March through September 2008 in accordance with the permit. Field data
collected are presented in Appendix A, 2008 Field Data. Figure 1, Alluvial Water Levels, presents
groundwater levels measured since July 1998. Water levels have returned to historic levels in both
wells following a low water (drought) year in 2002.
FIGURE 1
ALLUVIAL WATER LEVELS
0
-0.5
-1
rn
c
.N
m
U -1.5
0
Q
-2
0
a?
S-2.5
w
w
LL -3
-3.5
-4 1_
Jul-98
Jul-99 Jul-00 Jul-01 Jul-02 Jul-03 Jul-04 Jul-05 Jul-06
DATE
AP-1 -?- AP-2
r j
i
?I
i
i
Jul-07 Jul-OS I
Water quality samples were collected and analyzed on a "quarterly" basis in October 2007 and in May
and July, 2008. As of January 1999, the parameter list for alluvial well sample analysis was reduced to
include only major elements and. no trace metals. The individual laboratory analyses are presented in
Appendix C.
The mean field and laboratory measurements for each of the last 10 years are presented in Tables 1
and 2 AP-9 and AP-2 Historic Loadout Area Alluvial Water Quality Data. Figure 2, EC vs. TDS-Well
AP-1, and Figure 3, EC vs. TDS-Well AP-2, show comparisons of EC to TDS concentrations over the
last 10 years. These general water quality indicators remained consistent (with historic values) during
this monitoring period for both wells. The EC inaccurate values due to field equipment malfunction are
not included in the figures.
Kerr Mine/AJAR 2008 Page 3
