• Sample Adequacy
A summary of sample adequacy calculations for the parameters of cover, herbaceous production,
and woody plant density is presented in Table 17 (Appendix 1). As can be seen in this table, the
data sets for cover for the 2004 reclamation areas as well as the three sampled extended
reference areas all achieved sample adequacy based on total vegetation cover. However, the
data sets for the 2006 and 2007 reclamation areas did not achieve sample adequacy. Production
data sets were nearly adequate for the 2004 reclamation area, but did not achieve sample
adequacy within any of the sampled reclamation or reference areas. Note that no formal testing
for phase three bond release that would involve herbaceous production were undertaken this
year, so achievement of adequacy was not at issue. Sample number in the 2004 and 2006
seeded areas was based on one sample per 10 acres. As would be expected, minimum sample
sizes for background area shrub sampling far exceeded those taken.
•
•
17
