Climatic Data
SCC has historically provided precipitation data for the Seneca II and IIW Mines. As in previous
years, precipitation data from the Seneca IIW mine were used in 2008. Since the long-term
average for the mine exists for only 25 years, the long-term average monthly precipitation data
from the NOAA administered Western Regional Climate Center (WRCC) for the nearby town of
Hayden (Station 053867) were used as an appropriate base for comparison. SCC also provided
temperature data for the nearby Seneca IIW Mine in 2008; however, for temperature analysis on
the Seneca II Mine, temperature data from the Hayden station have been used since 2005 and
were again used in 2008.
RESULTS
Numerical data are found in Tables 1 through 14 of Appendix 1 and Table 15 of Appendix 2.
Sample data from the 2008 revegetation monitoring studies at the Seneca II Mine are presented
in Tables 1 through 10. Sampling data are summarized in Table 11. Data on species density by
lifeform are tabulated for sampled areas in Table 12. Data on relative cover by lifeform are
compiled in Table 13. Statistical adequacy of sampling is reviewed in Table 14. The list of plant
species observed during these studies (reclaimed and reference areas) are included in Table 15
of Appendix 2. Seed mixes used in the 2001 and 2006 reclamation areas are included for
reference in Appendix 3. Photographs of representative locations within the reclaimed areas
sampled in 2008, as well as photographs of Mountain Brush and Sagebrush Reference areas,
are included in Appendix 4. Graphs of vegetation and climate data are presented in Figures 1
through 10 of this report.
In the cover descriptions below, species listed as "also present" were not "hit" during point-
intercept sampling but were present within one meter of either side of the 50 m sample transect
line. Unless otherwise stated, all cover values are for absolute vegetation including first hit data
only. Percentages are rounded to one tenth of a percent to simplify discussion of the results.
2001 Reclaimed Area
(Photographs 1-3)
COVER
(Table 1)
0 8
