~ • The coat esseseed any particnlai project is based upon the amount df water
that the project voald annually deplnte from the DCRB in proportion to the
amount available for development. It has been estimated by the Sateen of
Reclamation that a total of 1.906 zillion sere-feet (Maf) re:sins available
for development in the Qpper Basin under the Colorado River Compact:" Of
.Chia amount, 431,000 acre-fe_et era allorated to__llri:one and.Aev Heiico and
will eventually be diverted fro= the San Jupn Hieer and~won7,¢,,not:affgct
areas of curreatly occupied habitat in the Colorado Giver aria Green Giver
cub-basics. This leaves 1.675 Maf in the IICBB ae the value against which
project depletions are aseeased calculating a project's proportion of the
conservation measures. Based upon the average use projection of 1.5 acre-
feet per year for the MCM ezpansion, the mount of contribution to the
Conservation Nessures would not ezceed $22.00. A contribution of this
amount to the conservation fend will offset the impacts of the project
depletion of eater to listed fishes and will avoid jeopardy for these
species. Arrangements for the coatribntion of these funds should be made ae
soon as possible, prior to the tine that your peraitting action is
finalised. Payment should be fade to the Regional Director, II.S. Fish and
- _ Hildlife Service, P.O. Buz 254$6.
