3-10
~, 3.3.1 BACKFILLING AND GRADING
The sediment pond, rip-rap stockpile, premine access road, and office area
will be backfilled and regarded following completion of reclamation activities
associated with the bench area. The ephemeral channels which formerly crossed
the area will be reestablished (see Figure 3.1-1 ). In other areas, only minor
regarding will be undertaken to smooth the surface following removal of facilities,
and to reestablish contours that are suitable to intended post mining uses.
All grading will be done on the contour where possible. Where such an
operation would not provide a safe situation for the equipment operator, the
operator will work against the slope to recontour and topsoil the area. The fill
area will be roughed on those slopes where equipment con be safely operated to
provide protection against slippage.
MINE BENCH AREA
All slopes will be compatible with the configuration and selected land use
as described in Section 4.1.2.3. The bench area will be reclaimed to the extent
possible. In removing excess material from the bench area for the improvement
of the road on the canyon floor and to maintain, to the extent possible, original
conditions of the ephemeral channel, available material for shaping the site was
reduced. It is presently anticipated that sufficient material is available from the
bench area face-up, along with material used to create the lower bench level
which will allow the return of the area to a condition that is suitable for the
intended uses and compatible with surrounding topographic features (see Figure
3.1-1 ).
TR-16 M`-Volume 1 (Rev 05/08)
