Information gleaned from CH-01 requires some changes to our
approved Addendum to the Plan of Operations (Addendum).
Initially, we discovered a fault running across our Test Pad as described in the Paleontological Survey'
prepared by Dr. Robert Young and submitted to Mike Selle of the BLM-WRFO. This fault lies in the
area of our previously planned ink situ retort described in our Addendum. Consequently, AMSO has
modified the drill pad layouts on tlie, RD&D Lease Tract.
We are currently finalizing plans for our in-situ test, and we will present those plans to you in the near
future as part of our Plan of Development. First, however, AMSO wishes to continue with our Phase I
site characterization - in particular our baseline water monitoring program.
We have submitted the enclosed modification to our approved Notice of Intent to Conduct Prospecting'
to the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (DRMS). This modification explains our
request to change the drill pad layouts on our Lease Tract.
AMSO requests that you accept this letter of explanation and the enclosed submittal to the DRMS as an
amendment to our approved Addendum. We wish to begin construction of the new drill pad layouts in
mid April, drill the wells, and initiaie water monitoring in May.
Please contact me if you have any
Sincerely,
American Shale Oil, LLC
Roger L.
