L
3.2 ALLUVIAL DEPOSITS
The alluvial materials present in the project area are comprised of well
rounded and sorted sand and gravel deposits. Gravel composition includes
red and green sandstones, granite, granodiorite, metasediments, and basalt.
They are easily distinguished from the fan deposits which contain only
basalt and buff sandstone material.
The alluvial deposits are found ir. the project area only along upper
surfaces of most terraces, and within the middle section of the northern
part of Terrace D. These deposits do rot cover the total terrace surface
and are present only as remnants of pre-existing alluvial sediments.
. Alluvial sediments approximately 5 feet thick are found at the northernmost
part of Terrace D, and indicate the minimum previous thickness of this
material in this area.
Very little alluvial material is present in the Rapid Creek drairage and
all such deposits have the compositior. of ancient Colorado River alluvium.

8
Hydro-Search, Ir1C.
