2.06.2 Experimental Practices
No experimental practices have been conducted.
•
2.06.8 Surtace Coal Mining and Reclamation Operations on Areas, or
Adjacent to Area, Including Alluvial Valley Floors
(3)(b)Alluvial Valley Floor Determination
The results of field investigation of the permit area and adjacent area regarding
the existence of an alluvial valley floor are included in this permit application as
specific parts of sections addressing geology, hydrology, land use, soils, and
vegetation. The flood plain of the Colorado River is an alluvial valley floor as
defined in 30 CFR 710.5. However, restrictions on mining operations applicable
to alluvial valley floors do not apply to existing mine facilities since mining
operations in the permit area were active prior to August 3, 1977. Other factors
which do not support an alluvial valley floor which would be legitimately
restrictive to mining are included in the following discussion.
The study area is defined as a permit area and the flood plain of the Colorado
River approximately one-half mile downstream from the permit area and
21-1 (Rev. 12/16/96)
~`
