Seneca II Mine has been undergoing final redamation for a number of years and is ready to •
apply for Phase I bond release. TR-37 (03/05) updates the cunenl status of the lands prior to the submittal
of the bond release appliption. The following paragraphs present a discussion of the plans and methods
used to bring the disturbed mine area to current conditions.
This section presents a timetable for each major phase of the redamation plan and projected redamatiori
schedules for the Seneca II Mine permit area and lands under support fadlities and structures. Facilities
such as roads and sediment ponds that an: not approved as elements of the postmining land use plan must
be scheduled for redamation. Additional information regarding the timing of reclamation activities may be
found in Tabs 9, 12, and other parts of 13, which discuss the various components of the redamation plan.
Exhibit 13-2 illustrates the backfilling and grading schedule.
Timing of Redamation Activities. A generalized timetable of redamation activities is shown in Figure 13-1.
The timetable outlines the sequence and timing of each major phase of reclamation. It is not possible to
specify predsely the timing of each redamation phase for the following masons: (1) variables such as
customer demand for coal, coal quality, overburden characteristics, and manpower and equipment
availability affect the rate of progress of mining activities; and (2) variables such as manpower and
equipment availability, weather conditions and season, the availability of materials, and the sequence or rate •
of mining advance affect the progress of grading, resoiling, and seeding in the mining area.
TRIO 13-28 Revised 01/06
