M-2008-078 - GP Ranches, LLC - West Farm Pit - 112 (c) Application Adequacy Review 01 Response
March 17, 2009
-6-

Phase Reclamation
Timeframe
1 2 ears
2 2 ears 6 months
3 1 ear 9 months
4 1 ear 9 months
5 1 ear 9 months
6 1 ear 9 months
7 1 ear 9 months
g 1 year 9 months
9 1 ear 9 months
10 1 year 9 months
11 1 year 9 months
12 1 year 9 months
13 1 year 9 months
14 2 ears
15 2 ears
16 2 ears
17 2 ears
18 2 ears 3 months
6 4 6 Exhibit F - Reclamation Plan Map
21. Please identify all known aquifers as required by Rule 6.4.7(2)(6).
An updated Exhibit C Pre-mining/Mining Plan Map is attached that identifies all known aquifers
within the permit area per Rule 6.4.7(2)(b).
6 4 7 Exhibit G - Water Information
22. According to the Mining Plan Map, it appears that a portion of the site lies within the floodplain
of the Arkansas River. In the event of a significant flood event (10 year flood or greater) it is likely
that the pits and/or reclaimed reservoirs will be captured by the Arkansas River. The Division
requests that the applicant provide the flood elevation(s) to be expected under a "worst case"
flooding scenario and specific mitigation measures that will be implemented to minimize the
potential for offsite impacts. Mitigation measures might include the installation of drainage pipes
within the internal berms separating pits and/or armoring reclaimed pit slopes in close proximity
to the Arkansas River with erosion control riprap.
Please reference response to Item 9 above.
23. The Operator proposes to construct groundwater recharge ditchlpond structures if groundwater
levels drop to a level that prevents an adjacent well from performing properly. Please provide the
dimensions/specifications of the recharge structures. The groundwater recharge ditch/pond
structures will be considered a part of the affected land. Please note that if these structures are
constructed outside of the approved permit area, the Operator will need to amend the Reclamation
Permit to incorporate them into the permit boundary.
V 1400 W 122nd Avenue - Suite 120 • Westminster CO 80234 • Ph: 303-457-0735 • Fax: 303-920-0343
