^r
Mr. Richard Raines March 17, 2009
Middle Poudre Combined Plan - Lafarge West, Inc. Page 3 of 9
accounting to include the transit losses of the dewatering water from the Shields Mine and
provide additional replacement water to replace those transit losses.
Note, that due to a change in administration of evaporation from ground water exposed to the
atmosphere prior to 1981, pre-1981 credits will no longer be allowed for gravel pits which exposed ground
water to the atmosphere prior to 1981 and were actively mined on or after January 1, 1981. Accordingly,
evaporative depletions for such gravel pits will need to be replaced from the entire surface area of the
ground water exposed in the pits. In order to allow owners and operators of the affected pits time to
comply with this change in the administration requirements, the owners and operators will have until
January 1, 2010 to comply with the replacement requirements. If the area included in the DRMS mining
permit site contains individual gravel pit ponds that were not altered or mined after December 31, 1980, you
may still be able to maintain the "pre-81" credit provided you can document when mining in the individual
ponds ceased. The Applicant is hereby notified that in accordance with the above described change
in administration, the evaporation from ground water exposed prior to 1981 must be replaced after
January 1, 2010 in any subsequent SWSP renewal for the gravel pits listed in Table A that have
ground water exposed prior to 1981.
Depletions
The depletions resulting from evaporation, water lost in product, dust control and concrete batching
are shown in Table B below:
TABLE B - DEPLETIONS
Evaporation Product Dust Concrete Total Current New
Site Name Loss Moisture Control Batching Lagged Well Permit
(ac-ft) Loss (ac-ft) (ac-ft) (ac-ft) Permit Required?
ac-ft
Greeley 14.7 No
35th Avenue 59.3 (500,000 2.00 8.8* 85.41 61516-F
Pit tons)

st
0
00**
0
00 ***
1'08
0.00
1.12
53509-F
No
Rigd
Pit . .
Three Bells 79.1 14.7
(500,000
2.00
0.00
97.10
64818-F No
Pit tons)
Weitzel Pit 135.1 0.00 0.00 0.00 134.97 64642-F No
Kyger Pit 25.2 0.00 0.8 0.00 26.69 53502-F No
o
t 4
65 0 0 0.00 65.46 60890-F No
r
Pit
E .
Shields 14.7
1.7 (500,000 2.00 0.00 16.15 65095-F No
Mine tons
Total 366.00 44.10 7.88 8.88 426.9
* to be withdrawn from well permit no. 47856-F
**23 acres currently exposed which is less than the 25 pre-81 area
**0.08 acre-feet for the office septic system
